Your journey to becoming part of New York City's most vibrant Juneteenth celebration starts here. Whether you want to march in the parade, walk the runway, set up a vendor booth, or attend the Black Kings dinner, this is your gateway to an unforgettable experience.
Quick Registration Guide
Everything you need to know to sign up for Juneteenth NYC events in just a few minutes.
Juneteenth NYC makes it easy to get involved. Our streamlined registration process ensures you can secure your place at any of our signature events without hassle. Each event has its own registration pathway tailored to participants' needs, so you will find the process straightforward whether you are a first-time attendee or a returning member of our community.
Step 1: Choose Your Event
Browse our lineup of events on the registration hub and select the ones that interest you most. From the parade to the fashion show to the gala dinner, each event offers a unique way to celebrate.
Step 2: Complete Your Form
Fill out the registration form with your contact details and any event-specific information. Fashion models should use the model application, and designers the designer form.
Step 3: Confirm & Prepare
After submitting, you will receive a confirmation with all the details you need. Check your email for event-day instructions, schedules, and any materials you should bring along.
Who Should Register?
Registration is open to everyone who wants to actively participate in Juneteenth NYC. If you plan to attend as a general spectator at the parade or vendor marketplace, no registration is required — just show up and enjoy the celebration. However, if you want to take a more active role, registration is your first step.
Parade participants, including marching groups, float organizers, dance troupes, and musical performers, must register in advance to receive their lineup position, route maps, and staging area assignments. The Juneteenth Parade is the heartbeat of our celebration, and organized registration helps us create a safe, well-coordinated experience for everyone involved.
Fashion show participants need to submit their applications through the specific forms. Models should complete the fashion models application, which asks for measurements, portfolio samples, and availability. Designers apply through the fashion designers form, which requires a brief collection overview and design samples. Both forms are reviewed by our fashion show committee.
Vendors who want to sell at our outdoor marketplace need to apply through the vendor registration process. You can see who participated in 2024 and 2023 for a sense of what types of businesses are represented. Spaces are limited and fill quickly, so early registration is strongly recommended.
Guests attending the Black Kings dinner gala should reserve their seats and tables as soon as possible — this is our most exclusive event and tickets sell out every year. You can also use the order form for merchandise and event materials.
Important Dates and Deadlines
Each event has its own registration deadline. We encourage you to register as early as possible, as many of our events have capacity limits. The parade registration typically closes two weeks before the event date to allow for logistics planning. Fashion show applications have an earlier deadline to give our selection committee time to review submissions and schedule fittings.
For the Black Kings dinner, table reservations open several months in advance and close when all seats are filled. We do not maintain a waiting list, so securing your reservation promptly is the best way to guarantee your spot.
Volunteers are always welcome and can register at any time leading up to our events. We need help with setup, registration desk management, crowd coordination, and teardown. Volunteering is a wonderful way to support the Juneteenth NYC mission while meeting fellow community members.
Community Nominations
While you are registering for events, consider whether there is someone in your community who deserves recognition. Our nominations process runs year-round, and it is one of the most meaningful ways to honor the people who make our neighborhoods stronger. Nominees are celebrated at the Black Kings dinner gala and featured in the Black Kings Journal.
If you have questions about any registration process, reach out to our team through the contact information on the main registration page. We are here to help you find the right way to participate in Juneteenth NYC.
Photography professionals interested in covering our events should visit our photographers page for credential applications, and media outlets can find press kit information and accreditation details there as well.

Guidance for first-time participants and newcomers joining New York City's most vibrant Juneteenth celebration.
If this is your first time participating in a Juneteenth NYC event, welcome. Whether you are a lifelong New Yorker who has never attended, someone who moved to the city and is eager to connect with the local community, or a visitor from out of state who planned their trip around the celebration, this guide will help you prepare for an experience that is both joyful and meaningful.
The first thing to understand is that Juneteenth NYC is not one event — it is a constellation of events spread across a celebration weekend. The anchor event is the annual parade through Harlem, which is free and open to all spectators. Surrounding it are the fashion shows, the Black Kings dinner gala, the vendor marketplace, and various community programs. Each event has its own character, schedule, and registration requirements.
For most first-time participants, the best approach is to start with the parade — experience the energy of the march, explore the street festival that follows, and browse the vendor marketplace. From there, you can decide whether you want to dive deeper by attending ticketed events like the fashion show or dinner gala. Many participants find that their first year is primarily about observation and discovery, while subsequent years bring more active involvement as marchers, vendors, volunteers, or nominators.
Understanding the Celebration Spirit
Juneteenth NYC is a celebration of Black freedom, culture, and community. Attendees come from all backgrounds, and all are welcome — the spirit of the event is inclusive, joyful, and grounded in shared humanity. At the same time, it is important for first-time attendees from outside the Black community to approach the celebration as guests: with humility, curiosity, and a commitment to centering the experiences of those whose history is being honored.
Many first-time attendees describe a transformative experience: the scale and beauty of the parade, the creativity on display in the vendor marketplace and fashion shows, the warmth of the crowd. Come ready to be moved, to learn, to celebrate, and to support. The Juneteenth NYC community is remarkably welcoming to newcomers who arrive in that spirit.
Getting the Most from Your Visit
Arrive early — parade day begins well before 10am, and the staging and ceremony activities leading up to the march are worth experiencing. Bring cash for the vendor marketplace; many small businesses operate cash-only booths. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for a full day on your feet. Bring a reusable bag for marketplace purchases.
Consider taking time to learn about the nominations program and the honorees being recognized this year. Reading the profiles of nominees in advance helps attendees connect the celebration to the real people and stories it honors. The Black Kings dinner program is a powerful window into what Juneteenth NYC stands for beyond the party atmosphere.
Volunteering as a Way to Deepen Your Engagement
For many participants, the deepest and most rewarding path into the Juneteenth NYC community runs through volunteering. The festival depends on a large corps of volunteers who handle everything from welcome desk staffing and crowd coordination to logistics support, vendor check-in, and post-event cleanup. Volunteers work in shifts so they can also enjoy the celebration, and many describe their volunteer experience as the highlight of their Juneteenth NYC involvement.
Volunteer orientation takes place in the weeks before the event and can be completed in person or virtually. All volunteers receive a festival t-shirt, a behind-the-scenes orientation, and access to a volunteer appreciation gathering after the festival. Returning volunteers are recognized through a service recognition program that honors those who have contributed across multiple years.
Youth volunteers ages 14 and older are welcome with parental consent. Student volunteers can receive community service credit documentation. Schools and youth organizations that bring volunteer cohorts receive special recognition in the festival program. If you are a parent, educator, or youth program leader, consider organizing a group of young people to volunteer — it is one of the most meaningful educational experiences available in New York City in June.
Ready to take your place in this celebration? Use the full registration hub to find the right path for you, whether that is marching, volunteering, vending, attending, or — most meaningfully — nominating someone in your community for recognition at the Black Kings dinner. Every form of participation matters. Every person who shows up adds to the power of this celebration.
